Our Ethos

For many years we have run educational visits in the farm for all ages of children. We are very passionate about sharing this amazing environment with the next generation.

The 60 place nursery is for children aged between 3 months and 5 years and is open Monday - Friday for 51 weeks of the year. Our opening hours are 7.30am - 6.00pm.

The nursery is purpose-built to allow children to be at one with nature and the outdoors. The nursery has three rooms, each catering for different age groups. All of these rooms lead out to a large private, secure outdoor play area so children can choose where they want to play and therefore learn all year round. There is a large canopy that ensures that children can play outside in all weathers and we also provide wet weather clothing so the children can play happily in the rain or snow, as they wish.

We also have a huge field just beyond the children’s garden where the children tend their fruit and vegetables in the raised beds, care for the nursery chickens and enjoy endless forest school activities.

There are other animals on the farm, including the nursery pygmy goats and the children are involved in their care and help with their daily routine. This care for nature and animals is absolutely core to our ethos of a loving, nurturing environment where the children in our care can flourish.

The children regularly walk around the farm so they can enjoy, and learn about the seasonal changes of the farm, both crops and wildlife, and purely enjoy the space and fresh air that we have to offer. We have quad cross country buggies so even the smallest of our children can see this on this on the farm. Take a look at our On the farm page to see more about this.

Come Visit Us

We strongly believe in play based learning. We provide an environment, everyday, where children can develop through play.

We know each child as the individual that they are and through this we set up activities to progress their development. We do not pressurise the children, rather we provide a fun stimulating environment where a love for learning is developed.

Our Pre-School. Our Family. Our Community

To share a child’s development and daily diary with parents we use an app called Parentzone. This means that parents can see photos and videos of their children through the day, receive learning records, meal updates and any other information.

We know that our members of staff are the most important part of the nursery. We have a wonderful, diverse team who truly care about early years and provide a caring and inspiring teaching and learning environment for all the children in our care.

At Molescroft Farm we fully understand that choosing the right childcare for your child is a daunting experience but rest assured that the needs of your child are always our top priority.

What We Do

Environment

We are always trying to find ways to be as environmentally friendly as possible with reduce, re-use and recycling being at the heart of our nursery ethos, whether it be through using as little plastic as possible or using recycled natural product all through the nursery. You can see more about how we implement this on our Community page.

Food

Our nursery cook prepares amazing nutritious meals for the children every day on site. None of the food that we serve is processed, and sugar and salt are not added. We don’t serve puddings, rather a seasonal variety of fruit salads, smoothies and lassis. Snacks are savoury to avoid sugar sitting on the children’s teeth. Food is sourced locally where possible and from our own raised beds. See Sample Menu.

Play

We strongly believe in play based learning. We provide an environment, everyday where children can develop through play. We know each child as the individual that they are and through this we set up activities to progress their development. We do not pressurise the children, rather we provide a fun stimulating environment where a love for learning is developed.

Learning

We have many extra lessons, which the children love taking part in, from French, science, gardening club and music. We have educational visits up to Frith Farm, which is a veg box scheme which runs only a couple of field away on the farm.

Outdoor learning is fun!

As some of our children embark on their next adventure today we wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on their journey with us.
One of our parents said last week "they say it takes a village to raise a child, it doesn't, it takes a farm".

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your wonderful children with us. Your gifts, gratitude and support means more than we can put into words.

We know your children leave us ready to take on the world with excitement, ambition and dreams which is everything they will need and more.

This is just a tiny selection of the gifts we received, thank you all so much.

This week the preschool children have really enjoyed learning all about the Olympics. During our circle time we have learnt about some of the many sports and even tried a few ourselves! We were amazing at the long jump and the bean bag toss. Gymnastics was really fun as we used our ribbons to dance to the music.
On Friday, we watched some of the Tokyo 2020 opening ceremony and then held our own parade, with flags we made ourselves.
We loved looking at Gary's (Camilla's Husband) amazing medals and we are looking forward to making our own medals next week. We have even received a message from Rachel Daley (team GB football player)! It was amazing to hear from her and we wish her team lots of luck!

A wonderful morning spent helping Frith Farm prune their tomatoes and cucumbers and harvest any ripe vegetables.

We think it is so important for our children to know where their food comes from to become healthy, happy humans.

We are so lucky to have Frith Farm on our doorstep, if you're looking for somewhere to buy amazing fruit and vegatables from you can't get better than here!
